Congratulations to Charlotte Homan, Cormac Foley, Mark Legkovsky and Hugo Lloyd for being accepted on the Advanced Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence (AASE) programme.

What is AASE?
It is a Level 3 qualification designed for Fencers ‘who have the realistic potential to achieve excellence and are seeking to perform at the highest level as their main career goal’. Delivered through the National Academy the programme covers all areas of development as a Fencer including technical, tactical, psychology, nutrition as well as strength and conditioning. AASE is notionally a 2 year programme aimed at 16-18 year olds studying at school or Sixth Form College.

Spring Term Fencing Starts 15th Jan

The first fencing of the year on Friday 15th January 2010 in the usual place.

Don’t forget the Southern Region age group foil qualifiers and senior foil on the 31st January 2010 at Reading University. Details on the Calendar page.

Club coach selected for FIE Foil training course.

CONGRATULATIONS to John Routledge on passing his FIE Foil Diploma. He will be returning from Bucharest, Romania having spent three months on a FIE Foil coaching course.

Hampshire Team Foil 2009 – Escrime winners

After entering three teams and a successful days fencing at the Hampshire foil team event, team Escrime A (John Routledge, Mark Lyons-Amos and Adrian Davis) won the event overall with teams B and C coming 2nd and 4th.

Yuk!No not the nations most wanted but the winners of the team foil Mark, John and Adrian. Sorry ladies but amazingly they’re all taken!!
